If you are not familiar with the track changes tool, it is a brilliantly direct way of marking up a document without affecting the original work. Using the “real time” feedback embedded in comments throughout your manuscript, you will find a broad scope of observations, suggestions and recommended changes – from the tiniest spelling error to overarching structural advice. We like to describe it as a guided dialogue between the editor and the author.
It is important to note again that you, the author, remain in complete control of your work at all times. Throughout the embedded comments you will find concise explanations as to why your editor has advised amendments to certain sections, but it is, however, entirely up to you whether to accept or reject any changes, at your discretion. No suggestion will ever be enforced by the editor.
